One of My Favorite Ways to Evaluate Deals

Transformation. That’s what this is all about.

Regulation crowdfunding gives you the ability to receive the returns that were once only available to insiders. People who were existing employees or had some big time connections.

Part of the reason why I started StartupWire was to give others something that I never had. That something is access to a network of experts, founders, and industry leaders that can give you the information you need to make better investment decisions. In today’s vlog I share my first exposure to early stage investors. 20ish years ago. This brush changed my life forever and was the beginning of a journey that has led me here.

You see, I want to be able to provide you with the knowledge and the information that I didn’t have when I first entered the space. One of my favorite things to do is to treat each Equity Crowdfunding investment opportunity as if I was shopping on Amazon.

If you’re like me, you probably spend an inordinate amount of time researching, looking at every review, and pouring over internet articles prior to making a purchase on Amazon. I hate to admit it, but I think it took me nearly 1 month to decide on my dog's electric fence- while I chased all around the neighborhood. I challenge you to take this same approach to your next equity crowdfunding investment.

Try this approach as a starting place:

Research the company. Find the founder on LinkedIn. Ask questions on their campaign page. Look at product reviews. Find articles about the company online. Look for potential competitors. Evaluate the finer points of their deal. Look closely at evaluation. Deep dive into the consumer reports on their product/idea. I could go on, but you get the picture.

The internet has given us the ability to find out a lot in a short period of time. You’d be surprised how much you can find out with a couple of Googles and a curious attitude.

I hope this helps!

Lastly, I want to hear from you. What factor do you weigh the most when you evaluate deals? Let me know in the comments below.

Stay tuned for my next video where I share with you what I learned from my conversation with the one and only, Iron Mike Tyson.
